Permits
The Marin County Department of Public Works and the Community Development Agency provide resources for all your permitting needs. Permits allow careful oversight of projects using Green Building techniques as well for traditional new construction and renovations.
To protect the environment, permits are required for work within creeks and riparian areas through the Marin County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program and the Marin County Department of Public Works. Businesses that use or store regulated hazardous materials require permits and inspections through the Public Works Waste Management Division’s Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA). State and federal regulations ensure that Marin is safe from hazardous materials incidents, overdevelopment, pollution and unsanitary conditions.
