Water Resources
The Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and the Marin County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (MCSTOPPP) along with many other organizations in Marin devote their time to managing our precious water resources.
MCSTOPPP’s goal is to prevent stormwater pollution, protect and enhance water quality in creeks and wetlands, preserve beneficial uses of local waterways (including the protection of Marin’s endangered Coho salmon and threatened Steelhead), and complying with State and Federal regulations such as the Clean Water Act.
Many water conservation practices have been put into practice by the Marin County Department of Public Works. County facilities use low-flow toilets, waterless urinals in the Civic Center, reclaimed water where available for landscaping needs and for HVAC cooling towers that provide heat during the winter months.
